The first decision
Start with the property and its permitting jurisdiction, then compare indoor and outdoor equipment.
One region, several different projects
An Orlando condo, a Kissimmee rental home, a Lake County yard and a coastal property should not share an identical equipment shortlist. Write down who controls the property, where the equipment will sit, how it will arrive, and who will maintain it. Use this regional checklist to prepare; then confirm the details at the exact address.
Map the location before the model
Separate an air-conditioned room from a garage, screened enclosure and exposed patio. Ask the manufacturer whether the exact space counts as indoors or outdoors under its manual and warranty. Screening is not a substitute for an outdoor rating. For an exposed installation, request a written plan for rain, drainage, equipment protection and storm shutdown. These are buying questions, not claims that a particular model is suitable everywhere in Florida.
A practical coverage map
Our Central Florida editorial rollout covers Orlando, Winter Park, Maitland, Apopka, Winter Garden, Ocoee, Sanford, Lake Mary, Altamonte Springs, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Longwood, Casselberry, Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Clermont, Minneola, Mount Dora, Tavares, Eustis, Leesburg, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Davenport and Haines City. Dedicated city guides beyond Orlando are still being researched. Tampa has its own guide as an adjacent market; this list is our editorial scope, not a government boundary or a promise of local service.
Budget for the whole installation
Get separate written amounts for freight, access or placement, electrical work, site preparation, assembly, drainage and ongoing supplies. A garage-to-patio decision can alter several of those items. Enter your own quotes in our ownership calculator; we do not publish invented local installation prices.
Questions to settle before ordering
- Which city or county office covers this address?
- Does the exact product manual permit this location and weather exposure?
- Who will clean, drain and shut down the system when it is not used?
