The first decision

Distinguish the City of Los Angeles from other municipalities and county areas before requesting installation guidance.

Use the correct jurisdiction

A Los Angeles-area location is not always under the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. Start with the exact address. California CSLB directs owners to their local building department because requirements vary by city and county. For property within the city, the current DBS website provides permit and inspection services.

Treat a backyard setup as a site project

Sketch the sauna or tub, door swing, maintenance panels, path of travel and nearby structures. Ask the applicable department what site, electrical or other approvals the proposed work requires. Include drainage and any base preparation in the quote. Do not assume equipment can be added beside an accessory dwelling unit without reviewing its own requirements and available services.

Verify the side-yard delivery route

Measure gates, turns and overhead obstructions, then compare them with packaged dimensions and the seller's handling plan. Ask who is responsible for special access arrangements, placement and assembly. Where access is restricted, obtain a written solution and total price before paying for freight. We have not surveyed your site or endorsed an installer.

Turn energy questions into comparable numbers

Use your actual tariff and the seller's stated power information as inputs, documenting assumptions about warm-up and chiller runtime. Ask whether sun exposure, permitted ambient conditions and planned use affect the installation. Our calculator is a budgeting tool, not an independent energy test or a rebate-eligibility decision.
