The first decision

Start with building permission, filled equipment weight and the full delivery route.

Do the apartment feasibility check first

Before comparing temperatures or features, send the exact model, dimensions, electrical instructions and filled weight to your landlord, managing agent or building team. Ask what professional review and work approval they need. Never assume a balcony, roof or apartment floor can support a filled plunge because an empty tub fits through the door.

Electrical work has its own process

NYC Department of Buildings states that electrical installations requiring its permits are performed by DOB-licensed electrical contractors. Show the exact product manual to a qualified local electrician and confirm what work and permits your plan requires. An existing outlet or a shared voltage label is not proof that the circuit is appropriate.

Measure the entire trip upstairs

Record the loading entrance, elevator interior and door, hallway turns, stair landings and apartment door. Ask whether delivery includes elevator handling, placement and unpacking, and what happens if access fails. Book any building-required time slot before promising the seller a delivery date. Retain packaging until return eligibility is understood.

Noise, water and reversible choices

Ask about chiller placement, condensate, water containment and the approved drainage route. For a compact or portable alternative, account for storage, cleaning and the place it dries between uses. A renter-friendly marketing phrase does not override lease terms, electrical instructions or building rules. We do not provide structural assessments or building-specific approval.
